An employment specialist has launched a new scheme today (Monday October 29) aimed to get people between the ages of 18 and 24 into work.
Maximus UK is urging businesses in Horsham to sign up to the new ‘Win Win’ initiative, which will grant companies subsidies of up to £2,275 for employing more young people.
The campaign aims to pair up businesses with suitable young candidates for hundreds of vacancies across the country.
Around one in four people between the ages of 18 and 24 are considered to be ‘NEETs’ (Not in Employment, Education or Training), a statistic the initiative hopes to address.
Michael Hobday, managing director of Maximus UK, believes the scheme will have a positive effect on both young people and businesses.
“Unemployment is difficult for anyone, but there is overwhelming evidence that young people are finding it particularly tough to get their foot in the door and secure their first job,” he said.
“Through this campaign we hope to start addressing the problem of the growing number of so-called ‘NEETs’ and show that employing young people really can be a win-win situation for employers.
“Young people will benefit from the life-changing experience of getting their first job.”
Maximus’ Horsham centre will be promoting the scheme through various initiatives, including an event on November 16 for businesses and young people.
Businesses can sign up to the initiative by visiting the ‘Win Win’ website at www.winwinwithmax.co.uk or contacting info@winwinwithmax.co.uk.
