A SURVEY of Horsham district residents has found nine out of ten people are were ‘very satisfied’ or ‘satisfied’ with the council’s innovative Acorn Plus refuse and recycling scheme.
Just under 1,000 residents were responding to questions about the service in the survey by Horsham District Council.
Andrew Baldwin, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Horsham District Council, said: “In 2010, the Council introduced the revolutionary Acorn Plus recycling scheme with new side loading vehicles and reduced crew sizes.
“Household recycling in the Horsham District has now reached 58 per cent, which means that this amount of waste is no longer going to landfill sites and this puts us, as a Council, amongst those leading the way in this field. Our residents are now achieving some of the best recycling rates in the country.
“Despite some glitches earlier on in the scheme, the new service has been a major success.
“What’s more, the council remains committed to maintaining a weekly collection of household waste.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our services but given this level of satisfaction I would like to congratulate both our residents and the council for working so well together to gain this level of satisfaction.”
