UPDATE: Surrey woman dies in Rudgwick collision

A 53-year-old passenger who died on the A281 in Rudgwick after a collision yesterday (Sunday July 28) was from Elstead, Surrey, police have confirmed.

Emergency services arrived on the scene east of the village at around 5pm.

The collision involved a Blue Skoda travelling westbound and an eastbound Silver Honda.

The woman Skoda passenger, who has not been named, died at the scene of her injuries.

The 23-year-old driver, also from Elstead, was taken to the Royal London Hospital in London with serious injuries.

A 57-year-old man, also from Elstead, who was a passenger in the same car, received minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

The 64-year-old man driving the Honda and his 59-year-old woman passenger, both from Crawley, were also injured.

Police said the man was slightly hurt and did not need hospital treatment, and the woman was taken to the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford with serious arm and back injuries.

The road remained closed for several hours whilst a forensic examination of the scene was carried out.
