West Sussex youths will have their voices heard in the House of Commons by UK Youth Parliament Members this week.
The ‘Make Your Mark’ ballot paper asked young voters in the county to decide between 15 topics that should be raised during the debate on Friday November 23 and 2,466 residents did just that.
The top five issues voted for included cheaper transport, getting ready for work, equal national minimum wage, mental illness, and the most popular with 761 votes was better bursaries for 16-19 year-olds.
Shagass Pam, 15, Deputy MYP for Crawley and East Grinstead said: “It was scary talking to people I had never met asking them to vote on their top issue.
“It was one of the most terrifying but exciting things I’ve done.”
More than 250,000 young people voted for issues across the UK.
