Two homes in Colgate were broken into last week, by burglars who made off in one victim’s car.

A house in Grouse Road was broken into between July 24 and July 25. Intruders took the keys to a Toyota and drove off in it. The car was later used to take £30 worth of fuel from a petrol station in Crawley.

The second break-in happened on July 25 in Forest Road, Colgate. The burglars are thought to have left empty-handed.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with burglary of a dwelling, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and making off without payment.

A 17-year-old man has been charged with burglary and theft, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

A 15-year-old man has been charged with two counts of burglary of a dwelling and one of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

PS O’Leary from Horsham Police said: ‘I would like to reassure the community that we take these incidents very seriously.

“This is a positive result from the work of both uniformed and CID officers and we would encourage anyone who has information about these type of incidents to contact Sussex Police on 101 or Crimestoppers annonymously on 0800 555 111.”
