PUPILS at Shipley CofE Primary School are enjoying their cookery lessons even more after a Horsham joinery company donated a new kitchen to the.
Pupils at the village school have always been keen put their culinary skills to the test whether through producing their own curries to add spice to studies of India or by queuing up to join the after school cookery club.
Up until recently they had been coping with a table-top Baby Belling, and lots of borrowed kitchen equipment.
Now, thanks to Horsham branch of Howden’s Joinery, they have their very own mini fitted kitchen in which to stir up a storm.
Space has been made in the staff room for six cupboards, a new sink, hob, extractor fan and the necessary counter tops. Originally the school had planned to buy an oven for the new kitchen, but Howden’s told them to spend their money on cooking equipment instead and supplied an oven as part of the gift.
Last week cookery club members put the newly installed facilities to the test and gave it a big thumbs up.
Olivia Foster-Joyce said: “It was brilliant.”
Ruby-Tuesday Passmore agreed.
“The new oven was much better and everything was lovely and shiny,” she said.
Now staff and pupils can spend the Easter holidays drawing up a shopping list for splash backs, more baking trays, and all the other useful items to turn them from mini have-a-go cooks into could-be future Masterchefs.
