CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre from closure have said they are delighted the leader of the district council Robert Nye has resigned.
“It’s Christmas come early,” said one.
Mr Nye has led proposals to close the facility because of costs.
But Mr Nye stressed that his decision to resign both as leader and as a Conservative councillor had nothing to do with the leisure centre controversy.
He left because of financial difficulties with his business.
Full reaction to his decision plus detailed analysis appear in this week’s County Times.
