A puppy stolen from a farm in Horsham earlier this month has been reunited with its owners after it was found in Surrey the next day.

The Crawley Road farm was burgled on Thursday July 17, and the six-month-old Saluki puppy was stolen.

However, the dog was found running in a road in Bletchingley, Surrey, by Tilburstow Hill Road between the junctions with Harts Lane and Lambs Business Park at about 5.45pm.

A woman recognised the puppy from a Facebook post written by the victim, and rescued the pet before returning it to the owners.

Detective constable Stuart Streeter said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this dog being dumped or set free in this area.

“It is a rural area however it does appear there are some premises set back into the surrounding fields as well as some business premises.”

A 20-year-old man from Redhill has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, questioned and bailed until August 26.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information can call police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 0948 of 17/07.
