A Horsham woman specialising in sports injuries and children’s care is opening a new osteopathy clinic in the town centre next month.
Osteopathy, is the study of the bones is a treatment technique designed to give relief for problems caused by the body’s structural or mechanical system.
After 15 years working in a clinic in Crawley, Suzanna Frisby, 37, is opening Osteopathy Works in New Street.
The mother of three said: “My interest in osteopathy came at a young age.
“I was very interested in sports, anatomy and physiology and nutrition.
“Osteopathy was a career that brought all of my interests together. I love working with people and their families and being able to help them to recover through treatment and advice.
“Osteopathy is great as it can help anybody of any age with a multitude of different complaints.”
Another one of her interests is paediatric osteopathy, which was the subject of her masters degree in 2006.
She said: “Cranial osteopathy is good in babies and I have a lot of friends who have found it helpful.
“Osteopathy can be good for mothers and newborns if they have had any birth trauma.
“The aim is that we are going to set up a general osteopathy children’s and babies’ clinic.”
Osteopathy can be used to treat a range of conditions joint aches and pains and injuries to migraines, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)and tinnitus.
IBS, for example, could be caused by spasms in the bowel. Suzanna said: “The nerves that control the bowel are in the spine so tension in the back can cause spasms. If the structure of the body is working well, it allows people to do the job they should be doing.”
The clinic will open on Friday July 4 and Suzanna is offering a free consultation to all new patients booking in July and August. This will include recording a case history, examination, diagnosis and advice regarding if further treatment is required.
