A student from Small Dole is among Lancing College’s high achievers celebrating GCSE success today (Thursday August 22).
Amelia Young, from Small Dole, gained eight A*s and two As, with more than a quarter of all grades at Lancing at A*.
All its pupils received at least five GCSEs between A* to C, and more than half the year group achieved at least five A* or As.
Jonathan Gillespie, headmaster at Lancing College, said: “Many congratulations to our GCSE pupils on their excellent results.
“The range of subjects studied by individual pupils is both impressive and challenging, and these strong grades are a fitting reward for much hard work and determination.
“Lancing’s small class sizes give our exceptional teachers the opportunity to nurture individual talents; and our extensive curriculum, complemented by opportunities to embrace cultural, sporting and practical activities beyond the classroom, is part of Lancing’s superb, all-round education.
“This enables pupils to discover their full intellectual capacities and to develop important skills and life-long interests.
“The years culminating in GCSE provide our pupils with an excellent foundation from which to embark confidently on the next stage of their academic careers, namely their chosen A-level subjects. The two exciting Sixth Form years ahead serve as an effective launch pad for university study and life beyond school.”
