Making the right decision when the time comes to consider care is important both for older people and their relatives.

These decisions can be very difficult to take and get right.

This is where the latest version of the West Sussex Care Guide can help people make vitally important decisions about their lives.

The Care Guide 2013 is jointly produced by West Sussex County Council and the West Sussex Forum, which represents the county’s independent care providers.

It is available on the {http://www.westsussex.gov.uk/careguide|county council website|county council website}.

As well as a benefits and payments checklist, the care guide lists care at home services and care homes in West Sussex, split into the northern, southern and western areas of the county.

It also includes a raft of information on day care and community care services, extra care housing schemes and support for carers.

The Care Guide has been awarded a ‘Crystal Mark’ by the Plain English Campaign for the way it clearly presents information in an easy to understand way.

Peter Catchpole (Con, Holbrook), WSCC cabinet member for adult social care and health, said: “The care guide is an important part of the county council’s campaign to help residents age with confidence.”
