AMENDED plans for a single storey extension to a Horsham vehicle workshop to allow installation of MOT equipment are before planners on Tuesday.
An application for 3 Victory Road was refused by Horsham District Council’s development management committee on October 4 last year.
Officers are now recommending permission is granted as the new proposal is for a single storey flat roof extension inline with the existing workshop.
Previously the application was for a taller building and to raise the roof of the existing building to enable a vehicle ramp to be installed but the new one is for a pit to enable vehicle inspections.
Two letters in support were received from residents of Rushams Road.
Officers said although the revised building would increase in size its impact had been ‘significantly lessened’ by the lower height of the roof and being set back from the front wall would not appear ‘significantly different’.
“The new building will also be constructed with a brick/block/cavity wall building that would further ‘dampen’ noise levels, together with up and over doors that will be fitted with nylon rollers and rubber seals,” the report said.
It said that with these measures, together with an ‘appointment only’ system for MOT testing, the applicant had successfully sought to reduce the potential impact of the proposal on the living conditions of the adjoining residents in terms of levels of disturbance.
